For many years now RENDAR has held an annual oral mock exam for 12th graders, i.e. students graduating from high school. The exam happens on a Saturday morning in late January or early February and is given by an independent commission of 3 teachers not affiliated with RENDAR both at the basic and extended levels. This way students are given a unique opportunity of having their English evaluated two months before the real exam by a panel of language specialists they have never encountered before. Obviously, the examiners will only base their judgment on what they actually hear from the student during the mock exam and not on their general opinion formed about the student's language skills before the exam. Apart from the grade awarded to each student in percentiles, the commission members prepare written reports pointing out weaknesses and commenting on the general performance of the candidate during the exam.
In 2009 the oral mock exam was held on February 14.

This mock exam may also be taken by students of considerable language skill below high school graduation age who simply wish to pit themselves against the exam.
The exam is free to RENDAR students. If you do not study English with RENDAR but would like to take the mock exam, please contact us.
'When you come to think of is, for many of these people this could be the first oral exam, not just in English. It also seems tougher than the real thing in that during the real exam students only interact with one new teacher, the other commission member being most often their own teacher who, hopefully, may ease up things a bit. This mock exam is also interesting in that for the next two months before the real exam, students know just exactly what they should focus on'.
